A beginner’s balcony garden?

So I know that I love to eat. I know that I love to cook. What I’m toying with at the moment is taking it another step forward (or left!). I think I would like to begin my own food production.

Inspired by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall at River Cottage and Indira Naidoo’s Edible Balcony, I’d like to begin my own kitchen garden on the Vale Street balcony.

It may not work – I have the Queensland climate, possums and a nosey beaglier to contend with but I’m willing to give it a shot. I can’t really find much about successful Queensland balcony food growing, so maybe I can set some kind of precedent. There’s also the fact that I’ve only ever managed to successfully grow a hardy pot of azaleas. So we’ll see how it goes!
