I’ve been slow to get this thing off the ground, but thought there’s no better way to do it than with a classic. I can’t say I’ve ever enjoyed an orange and almond meal cake from a cafe, how on earth could they get something so right, so wrong? Normally it’s dry and dense, without the delicious tang I love.
It’s become my signature cake over the last few years and I just can’t ignore it when I need a quick and deeply satisfying cake for a special occasion. The occasion in this instance was my friend Jahna’s birthday. This time I chose to decorate with candied orange peel and a succulent sticky orange syrup.
The result… wholesome decadence!
